1. DAVISON DEPOT Turn-of-the-century depot originally served the Grand Trunk and Western Railroad. 2. PERE MARQUETTE CABOOSE A621 1921 standard-gauge caboose sits on original rails from the Pere Marquette line. Moved to Village from a backyard in Grand Blanc. 3. HUCKLEBERRY RAILROAD Named for the original Pere Marquette Railroad, which traveled from Flint to Fostoria. Passengers traveled part way to pick huckleberries and were picked up on the return trip. Powered by Baldwin steam locomotives, the railroad is narrow-gauge (3’ between the rails). 4. HORTON-COLWELL BUILDING Moved from Fenton, the building includes a second floor Opera House and a U.S. Post Office on the first floor. The “FLT” in the brickwork is a symbol for the Oddfellows fraternal organization. 5. T.N. NORTH & SON BANK AND LOCY’S DENTAL ROOMS The bank, built in 1878, retains its original walk-in vault and ornate teller’s cage. The re-created Locy’s Dental Rooms, located on the second floor, depict 1800s dentistry. 6. FOWLER BARBER SHOP Served as a post office and barbershop in the Clinton County community of Fowler. 7. CLAYTON TOWNSHIP HALL Built in 1878 for $500 and donated to the Village by township citizens in 1976. 8. GEORGE H. DURAND LAW OFFICE This 1850s home office is named after the first president of the Genesee County Bar Association. 9. MILL STREET WAREHOUSE AND DINING ROOM This new building is designed to resemble a railroad warehouse and includes dining and restroom facilities. 10. ATLAS MILL Powered by an underwater turbine, the gristmill operated in the Village of Atlas from 1836-1942. It now produces stone-ground flour sold in the Village. 11. GAZEBO This replica of a Victorian gazebo is a popular spot for weddings and is the center of many Village activities. 12. MASTERS’ CIDER MILL Moved to the Village from Richfield Township, the cider mill has been in continuous operation since 1885. 13. ICE HOUSE Moved from a farm near Holly, the icehouse is insulated with more than 12” of sawdust and preserves ice all summer. 14. WISNER CARRIAGE BARN First automobile produced in Flint was built in this barn by Judge Charles H. Wisner. The “Buzz Wagon” was not a commercial success and only three were built. 15. BUZZELL HOUSE The oldest surviving home in Flint, this modest Greek Revival home was built in 1854 by carpenter John Buzzell for his own family. 16. COLDWATER ROAD CHAPEL Built in 1898 for the Cohoctah Evangelical Church in Livingston County. It is still used for weddings and church services. 17. CROSSROADS LUMBER COMPANY This portable steam-powered sawmill was moved between small lumbering camps after the large sawmills had moved farther north. 18. CHARLES W. PARKER CAROUSEL Built in Kansas in 1912 and operated in Riverside, California. It features 36 jumping horses, 4 baby horses, and 2 chariots. |
19. CHARLES W. PARKER SUPERIOR WHEEL Built in 1910, this is the last existing Superior Wheel built by Charles W. Parker, “America’s Amusement King.” 20. VENETIAN SWING, PONY CARTS, and “FLYER” MINIATURE TRAIN These vintage amusement rides were purchased through donations and all are more than 50 years old. 21. THE GENESEE BELLE This authentic paddle wheel riverboat offers cruises on Mott Lake. It departs from the Village Park, adjacent to the carousel. 22. BLACKSMITH SHOP This working smithy replicates an 1870s shop. 23. SALTER LOG HOUSE This 1840s log cabin was moved from Greenfield Village in 1995. 24. CALKINS BARN and DONAHUE CHICKEN COOP Built in 1885, the barn was moved to the Village and reconstructed in 1983 during a traditional Amish barn-raising. The chicken coop came from a farm in Clayton Township. 25. STANLEY SCHOOL This one-room school, originally located just outside the Village on Bray Road, was used by students from 1883-1963. 26. FOX HOUSE and CRAWFORD WINDMILL This Italianate 1876 house was originally the home of a prosperous farm family with ten children. The 40- foot-tall windmill originally pumped both household and farm water. 27. FENTON CARRIAGE BARN Moved from Fenton in 1994, this fancy Queen Anne barn houses the broommaking equipment. 28. MEETING HALL Built in 1878 for $569.22, the hall was the first seat of government for Flint Township. 29. ELDRIDGE HOUSE Built in the 1860s near Genesee, this simple farmhouse was home to the Eldridge family for more than 75 years. 30. DURANT BARN Built by Billy Durant, one of the founders of General Motors. It is now the Village Toy Barn. 31. MASON TAVERN Built about 1850 in Mundy Township by Daniel Mason, a settler from New York. As many as 27 stagecoaches a day stopped at the tavern until the opening of the Flint and Pere Marquette Railroad. The tavern also operated as a post office from 1853-1871. 32. MANWARING BUILDING Built by the founder of Dryden for use as a dry goods store. It was later used as a bakery and ice cream parlor and had an upstairs apartment. It is now the Village Print Shop. 33. J.E. BARBOUR, M.D. Exact replica of Dr. Julius Barbour’s 1880 office in Bristol, Indiana. Donated by grandson, Dr. Fleming Barbour. 34. ATTICA HOTEL This 1870s Italianate style building was originally called the Williams House. 35. LAKESIDE GRILL The Lakeside Grill offers casual outdoor eating with sweeping views of Mott Lake. |
