Metal Detector Permit - $10 Individual; $20 Family

  • This permit is non-transferable.

  • You must have permit in your possession at all times or a Park Ranger may ticket you.

  • This permit is to use your metal detector on Genesee County Parks & Recreation Commission property, which is open for use by the General public, through the expiration date shown on the front of this permit.  This excludes Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railroad and For-Mar Nature Preserve and Arboretum.

  • This permit is valid only during normal operating hours and days.

  • It is further agreed that you will pay for any damages done by you to Commission Property at a rate to be determined by the Genesee County Parks & Recreation Commission on an individual basis. 

Pet Policy

Dogs or other animal pets must be leashed at all times. All dogs and other animal pets leash must not exceed six feet in length. Pets must always be under immediate control of the owner.

Dog Training Activities

E. A. Cummings Center

Activity:

Sled dog (MUSH) training.

Designated Area:

Trails.

Policy:

ATV’s permitted in conjunction with sled dog teams. Call for details.

Permit:

Permit required. Cost: $15.00

Dates:

Year round.

Hogbacks Area

Activity:

Dog field trials.

Designated Area:

Eastern portion of the Hogbacks.

Parking:

Lapeer County end of Coldwater Road.

Policy:

Dogs may be run off leash. Call for details.

Dates:

July 15 through April 15.

Waterfowl Hunting Click here for more details

Designated Area:

Certain areas of Holloway Reservoir and Mott Lake. Call for details.

Policy:

Waterfowl hunting permitted.

Dates:

To coincide with dates established annually by Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

Fee:

Resident - $6.00 per day Non-Resident - $8.00 per day
Resident Season Pass - $30.00, does not guarantee a spot, only good if drawn.
Non-Resident Season Pass - $40.00, does not guarantee a spot, only good if drawn.
All fees due at time of drawing.

Boat Launching:

Permitted at Stanley Road Fishing Site only.

Use Permits

$35 per event that does not fall under Special Events Policy, including weddings, ball fields, dock permits, Inflatables and other rentals, noise permits, etc.
