Office Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-4:30 pm
The application will be reviewed, and if approved,
signed by the Director of the County Parks. The
applicant will be notified of approval/disapproval
within two (2) weeks of application.
If approved, applicant will be issued a permit which
must be placed in the cache.
Additional Information
Permit is valid for the period of one year from date
issued and is non-transferable.
One cache allowed per application.
Choosing multiple sites/caches will result in separate
fees.
Applications can be denied by the Genesee County Parks
and Recreation Commission. Reasons may include, but are
not limited to the following:

False
statements made as part of the application
process
-
Revocation of
a previous permit
-
Conviction of
a crime
-
Too many
applications for the same facility during the
same time period
Permit may be terminated and the cache
can be removed at the discretion of the Genesee County
Parks and Recreation Commission for reasons that may
include, but are not limited to the following:

Behavior that is adverse to the protection of the public
health, safety or welfare of the Genesee County Parks
and Recreation Commission or park patrons

Special Events sponsored by the Genesee
County Parks and Recreation Commission or any other
organization requesting no outside presence

Failure to include a copy of the permit in the cache
Permit holders must immediately and peacefully depart
from the premises when requested to do so by Genesee
County Parks and Recreation Commission or Law
Enforcement officials.
GEOCACHING REGULATIONS
Participants must comply with all Geocaching and
Michigan Geocaching Organization guidelines. Please

Participants must comply with all Genesee County Parks
and Recreation Commission Park Rules.
Containers must be transparent and clearly marked with “GEOCACHE”.
Do not use ammo boxes, PVC pipes or other containers
that may cause alarm. The cache must contain a copy of
the permit and information on Geocaching in case any
non-participant finds it.
Offensive, illegal, or dangerous items are not allowed
in any cache. Do not include any commercial, political,
religious or social agenda items.
Do not disturb the surrounding environment when placing
a cache. Digging, cutting vegetation, or attaching the
cache to live trees is not allowed.
Place the cache so that people can use already
established trails. Do not create any new trails. |
